As part of our commitment to keep Kahoot! safe and enjoyable for all, we’ve implemented some functions to help you handle inappropriate nicknames.
Nickname generator
Hosting a live game in Classic mode, you have an option to assign a random friendly and funny 2-word nickname to players, for example, “kind tiger”. Instead of typing in a name to enter on their device, players will get up to three tries to spin for a nickname before joining the game.
Automatic nickname filter
We carefully maintain a list of words deemed universally inappropriate. Whenever someone joins a kahoot, this list is checked to ensure their desired nickname is ok for use. If it isn’t, their nickname with automatically be changed to something neutral. So if you have a cluster of learners joining with nicknames like “router”, this filter may be why.
If you notice that some nickname got filtered by mistake, log in to your account and use the “Support” link in the top nav bar to send us a message requesting to add to the apply list a specific nickname.
Also, if you feel that our filter failed to catch something inappropriate, please use the “Support” link in the top nav bar to send us a message requesting to add the specific nickname to the deny list.
Manually remove players
If you spot mischief and see an inappropriate nickname in the game lobby, you can click the nickname to remove that player from the game.
‘Enable 2 Step Join’ Game Option
If you have reason to suspect that someone is sharing your game PINs outside the class, enable this game option on the Game Options screen (where you choose between Classic or Team mode). Doing so will require players to enter a game PIN as well as a pattern to join your game. The pattern changes every few seconds, making it harder for players who can’t see your screen. Both the PIN and this changing pattern will be present throughout the game, so your intended players can rejoin at any point.

Today some students were writing insults to me (the teacher) as their Kahoot name. Is it possible for me to identify students when they do this?

I wonder why the nickname, "Ninja Boy", is restricted.
Same, how can I determine who has used inappropriate names?
How can we identify who is behind the nickname?
Is there a way to delete inappropriate names when they log into a challenge?
Please make the name connect to a valid email address that shows up on the report, That way when students use the Kahoot and use inappropriate names- it will attach their email address to that inappropriate name.
I just wanna make a funny name lol
You need to make a way to associate inappropriate names with student email addresses
Is there a way to delete inappropriate names when they log into a challenge?
As kids are signing in to the Kahoot, I notice someone signing over 30 times with a name, thereby flooding my kahoot. How can I prevent this?
As above- teachers MUST have a way to identify inappropriate users. I have just found my top scores includes "n word", and "n*gga". Seriously? Searching for an answer to where I figure out which kids did this I didn't find anything helpful. I did find webpages with plenty of suggested bad names though- looks like your filter could use an upgrade:

I won't be using Kahoot again during this pandemic closure unless I know that there's a way to prevent this or identify the guilty person. What a great product (with a thoroughly vital let down inside).
How how do I delete a student once the challenge has started if they use an inappropriate name. This is a major issue for me and sadly may have to stop using Kahoot! if it isn’t possible
I don't see an answer to StPaulsfrench question. I, too, want to delete out a student once the challenge has started for using an inappropriate name. Please respond as I may not be able to use this product for virtual learning.
Busedteach, I believe they are working on it according to emails I got from them
i found awesome Best Kahoot name list i hope Kahoot user like this
@stpaulsfrench- I commented 16 days ago and have not gotten a reply other than a link to the above information from this support topic which doesn't address identifying offenders or how to handle this issue when using the challenge feature. This product is so well received by kids that I really want to be able to use it (was planning to purchase out of my pocket). But I just can't without support for the teachers who are using this (and paying for it).
Kahoot has been really unresponsive over the years. I asked for folders - folders!! - for years and finally they did provide them. Behind a pay wall.
so I paid. Well, even behind the paywall, the product is clunky looking with a very strange set of menus on the left.
but I have been increasingly using quizlet live, Quizizz, Quizalize, and edpuzzle.
much better products.
i think Kahoot just doesn’t care or they have fun “being kahooters” without putting in the work to stay competitive.
@cmarkowicz, sadly like others I pay for it myself and have decided to cancel my trial until I know the challenges are 100% safe. It is hard enough these days. A real shame as students reacted reallly well but ...
I am dealing with the same issue. I want to delete a student from a challenge in progress and if I cannot keep it safe then I have to shut the challenge down and start using Quizlet or other educational game sites.
I've got inappropriate names showing up in an active challenge and apparently no way I can delete or modify the names. I will never use Kahoot again.
Thanks @Mwalker- I've signed up for Quizizz and will try that out to see if I can avoid these issues with appropriate behavior.
