While I appreciate the Terms and Conditions, the sketchy nature of your business model should be more transparent.  You could probably earn a lot of goodwill with potential customers by sending an email warning 24 hours before their card will be charged.  I wonder how many customers cancel the day they are billed and have to keep a paid but an unused product subscription for the rest of the year.

Educators are supposed to get premium for free so we can help our kids - lo and behold I received a $504.00 charge on my account? No way am I paying that, heh.

Very unethical practices, especially with no notifications or confirmations.

This company is not being ethical and honest with people.
At the time of registration, the rules were unclear, especially regarding
the fact that the amount would be charged immediately.
I have not used and will not use the product. Therefore, the honest thing would be
to refund the amount charged, at least in proportion to the time that it will not
    be used.

I was charged incorrectly for the whole year. When I started trial for 7 days, kahoot site informed me that I may be charged for a month. But now I see, my credit card was charged with whole year subscription.

I don't want this subscription. I am really poor and it's a big amount for me. Please refund my money as soon as possible.

This is very wrongful deed done by kahoot. I was not aware of the fact that you may charge me for the whole year.

This appears to be their business model -- setting up a trial, giving no notice of the end of the trial, and charging people without giving them an opt-out. I don't even see my billing info under settings (shown in their help pages but not on my profile). These companies are infuriating and I'm about to tweet this experience to my higher education friends and colleagues. BAD company.

Hi all, I have had the exact same issue as the above. I have emailed the founder and the support team to advise. Based on my research, these are my findings.

Further to my earlier email, I would like to point out that clause 17 of the terms and conditions on your website states as follows:

"by accessing our Services, you agree that the statutes and laws of Norway, without regard to the conflict of laws and the United Nations Convention on the International Sales of Goods, will apply to all matters relating to the use of the Services and the purchase of any products or services through the Services."

Through its association with the EU through the EEA agreement, and as a participant in the internal market, Norway implements EU consumer legislation.

Under EU consumer law, the Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU), passed on 14 June 2014, gives me the right to cancel and return my order within 14 days. Given that my contract with Kahoot to enter the free trial period and to start a full subscription following that period commenced on 4 June 2020, I have until 18 June 2020 to cancel the agreement - as per EU legislation.

I am sending this email as formal notice of my enforcement of my right to withdraw from the contract, within 14 days. I would be grateful if you could fully refund the full amount paid for the service and send me confirmation that this has been completed. My invoice has been re-attached for ease of reference.

Please note, that I have cancelled my subscription on your website as of 13 June 2020. Further, since the free trial period ended, I have not used the service.

Further to my earlier email, I would like to point you to the following page on the Norwegian Consumer Authority website. The page contains the Guidelines for the standard sales conditions for consumer purchases of goods over the internet - as per Norwegian law.

In particular, I would like to draw your attention to the following passage from the page:

When a contract is concluded on the Internet and binds the consumer to pay, the trader shall clearly and in an accentuated form make the consumer aware of the information stated in Section 8, subsection 1, letters a, e and n of the Cancellation Act immediately before the consumer places the order; see the Cancellation Act, Section 16, subsection 1. This information includes the most important properties of the good, the total price, and if a subscription contract is concluded, the terms for cancelling the contract.

In practice, this means that the information shall be presented in such a way that the consumer can view and read it in the ordering solution without having to perform an action, such as opening a new window with the information or scroll down the page to see the information. The information shall therefore be so close to the ordering button and with a font size large enough that the consumer cannot fail to discern the information. Furthermore, no other text should appear between the ordering button and the information that must be given, which might interfere with the consumer’s discerning the information.

I would like to point out that at the point of sale, the information required by section 8(1)(n) of the Cancellation Act, i.e. the conditions for cancelling the contract, were not made clearly apparent. In particular, I was not made aware of any cooling-off period or lack thereof. Section 8(1)(n) states that "where relevant, the duration of the contract and any minimum lock-in period or, for contracts that have no time-limit or are extended automatically, the conditions for cancelling the contract" should be provided at the point of sale. Please find a link to the Cancellation Act immediately below for ease of reference:

I would also like to clarify that not only have I not used Kahoot since the free-trial period ended, I have not used the service since I subscribed on 4 June 2020.
