Kahoot! join code: how to join a Kahoot! game. There are a couple of ways to join in on the fun of awesome learning. Check out our easy step-by-step guide.
You can join a Kahoot! game session
☝️ You don't need an account to join Kahoot! games.
☝️ It's not possible to rejoin with the same nickname and accumulated points after leaving the game (e.g. closing the app or the tab; losing connectivity).
☝️ Players who rejoin the game, need to provide a new nickname and collect points from the beginning.
Via game PIN (Kahoot! join code)
- Go to kahoot.it, or open our mobile app and tap Join.
- Enter a game PIN (Kahoot! join code - Kahoot! game PIN: how to find Kahoot! PIN).
- If the player identifier is enabled by the host, provide the requested identifier.
- If the friendly nickname generator is enabled by the host, click or tap the Spin button to choose a random nickname. If it’s disabled, type a nickname of your choice.
Via link
With links, you don't need the Kahoot! join codes (PINs).
Live Games (simultaneous)
💡 The host can click on the PIN in the lobby of the game. This will automatically copy a direct link to the game to their clipboard.
💡 The host can send this link to the players so that they can be taken directly to the game. Players just need to click on the link.
💡 If our mobile app is installed on the player's device, the kahoot will open in our mobile app. If not, it will open in your device’s web browser.
Assignments (self-paced)
💡 The host can copy the link from the active assignment's report page and share it with players.
💡 Players just need to click on the link.
💡 If our mobile app is installed on the player's device, the kahoot will open in our mobile app. If not, it will open in your device’s web browser.
Via QR code
- Open the Kahoot! mobile app.
💡 Alternatively, you can scan the QR code with your device's camera app and be redirected to Kahoot! app or website. - Tap Join at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Scan QR code option.
- Scan the QR code visible on the host's screen or sent to you by the host with our built-in QR code reader.
💡 If during a live game, the code is too small to scan, ask the host to click on it. It will expand the view. -
The game session will directly open in your Kahoot! app
☝️ If you used your camera app and don't have the K! app installed, the game will open in your device's browser.
☝️ Depending on the device, you may be asked for permission to open the app or browser.
Tech requirements
☝️ As a player, you don't need an account. Unless the host enabled player identifier, you just need to provide or randomly select (see nickname generator) a nickname to join a game.
All you need is:
- A desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device - make sure a supported web browser or our mobile app is installed.
- A stable internet connection - assignments only require internet to join and then to submit your answers when done. Live games rely much more on stability. If you’re experiencing frequent disconnections, there are some things you can do to test your internet stability. As a quick fix, try switching to a different connection method (ethernet, wifi, cellular). Data usage of our services is very low. You could easily answer 1,000 questions and be well under 1GB of data used.

Hope the article helped you.
Mighty_jack90 what are you trying to do?
Do you have a game pin?
Hi parker.sarah
Yes you can definitely have different players join/complete the same Kahoot at different times.
You just have to assign you kahoot instead of hosting it live. (Notice if you host a live kahoot, the ones joining the assigned kahoot will not be joining the kahoot you hosted live!).
Watch this brief video and learn how to assign kahoots: https://youtu.be/zHf8xt64wgY?feature=shared
I hope this helps
