The outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) has caused many educational institutions to close temporarily and rely on distance learning. To help distance learning, we’re providing schools and higher education institutions affected by the coronavirus with free access to Kahoot! Premium for the remaining months of the academic year.
With Kahoot! Premium, educators can collaborate with teachers outside of school walls, use advanced question types, and access in-depth reports, which they can utilize for formative assessment purposes.
Kahoot! Basic, a free version, features the same distance learning game modes as Kahoot! Premium, such as self-paced challenges, and is and will always be available for free for K-12 teachers and schools.
Frequently asked questions
Kahoot! Premium is our most advanced plan for schools. It allows educators to collaborate on learning content, share kahoots in a school’s team space, use all our advanced question types (polls, puzzles, word clouds, and open-ended questions) and slides, access detailed reports and easily share them for formative assessment.

We’ll provide you with free access to Kahoot! Premium until the end of this school year.
We recommend you to decide which of you will function as the Kahoot! admin – and that person should be the one claiming the offer, and then invite others. For example, it can be someone from the IT department of your school. As an admin, you will be able to decide how many licenses are needed for your school/department/district, add them to your subscription for free and invite other teachers.
Click here to start your sign up process. You’ll be asked to create an account before you can claim the offer.
You can either invite other teachers manually, or use a universal license key if you’re adding many at the same time. Download our PDF guide for more detailed instructions on each of these methods.
No. While you're in a trial, you can add as many teachers free of charge as you need. When inviting teachers, you might come across a pop up which asks you to confirm a price. Before you proceed, you can check that you're in a trial by clicking the gear in the top-right of the screen and choosing "Billing". If you're in a trial, there will be a "days left of trial" counter in the top-right of your Billing page.
If there is no counter, please contact us and we’ll be happy to investigate.

Contact us and we’ll get you set up. We won’t refund your Pro subscription but the upgrade to Premium will be free of charge.
Unless you provide billing info before the trial ends, your account will return to free access. Personal kahoots can still be used, though you won't be able to edit them if they contain premium features. Team kahoots won't be deleted, though you won't have access to the team space.
