The recent update of the challenge mode is great since students can finally view the questions and options on their own devices. But learning at students own pace in the challenge mode defeats the purpose and uniqueness of Kahoot!. It is because:
1. The challenge mode lacks the real time game elements with peers. There isn't any instant peer recognition and peer pressure while playing Kahoot at their own pace.
2. It is exactly the same thing that Quizizz offers, and they have more features as compared to Kahoot!, and all these for FREE.
It would be even better if we can live host a Kahoot! session using only mobile devices, without a projector. For instance, allowing teachers to live host a Kahoot! session using iOS app, where both teachers and students get to see the questions, options, and results on their own devices. In this case, we can host a live Kahoot! session, engage all students at the same time, consolidate student learning, and provide feedback after each question if necessary. In short, just-in-time teaching and learning anytime anywhere without the need of a projector to show the questions and options.
