It’s really fun and engaging to play Kahoot! in a group setting when all the players are in the same room. However, there are several possibilities to play with other people remotely as well! You can try connected Kahoot!’ing or challenge your friends with a kahoot to play in our mobile app.
Connected Live Kahoot!'ing
Using video calling tools or live streaming services, you’re able to loop in players from anywhere in the world. You can set up remote games with another classroom, office, school, or business.
- Video calling services - Tools like Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, or Microsoft Teams allow you to share your screen with remote participants. These are great when you have a small, private group and want face-to-face communication with them.
- Live streaming services - Services like Twitch, YouNow, Facebook Live, or YouTube Live also let you share your screen online with others. These are ideal if you want to host a kahoot publicly with a large audience. Please check bandwidth recommendations when expecting a large audience.
How to host a kahoot live via video conferencing
- Log in to your Kahoot! account and find your kahoot to host.
- Connect to your video conferencing tool of choice. Make sure your webcam, microphone, and speaker are turned on.
- Click Play, then "Present" or "Teach", to launch the kahoot, so the lobby is showing with the game PIN.
- Share your screen, so players joining can all see the game PIN. They may need two screens/devices to both see your video feed and answers questions (read this for tips on using one screen/device)
- Host the kahoot as usual, taking care to not speak over the music that plays during the timer countdown - you can either:
▶ Wait until the final answer responses are shown to talk
▶ Mute your speaker to talk over the game music
