Want to make your awesome Kahoot! games? You’ll need to create a user profile. A user profile lets you sign in on any device at kahoot.com or with our iOS/Android mobile app to securely create your own content.
You can get started at kahoot.com by clicking “Sign up” in the top-right of the screen, or in our iOS/Android app by tapping the profile icon in the top-left of the Discover page and then “Sign up” at the bottom of the profile page.
When creating an account, there are four pages you’ll be guided through:
How you want to use Kahoot!
This helps ensure your experience with Kahoot! is tailored to your needs.
- As a teacher - If you are a teacher or professor at a K-12 school, college, or university, hold the funnest classes with top-notch learning outcomes.
- As a student - If you are a student at a K-12 school, college, or university, show off your 21st century presentation prowess.
- Socially - If you are not affiliated with any organizations or intend to use Kahoot! for personal use, you can create, play and share fun games with your family and friends for parties, trivia nights and other occasions.
- At work - If you’re affiliated with a for-profit or non-profit organization and wish to use Kahoot! to make events and trainings stand out by captivating and engaging your audience.
Sign up
This step determines how you’ll sign in once your account is created. Currently, this cannot be changed after account creation.
- Google: Use your Google-hosted account to sign in.
- Microsoft: Use your Microsoft-hosted account to sign in.
- Email: Use any email address and create a username and password to sign in with.
Your account details
Based on how you want to use Kahoot!, you’ll need to provide some specific information.
As a teacher
- Add your school or university - This isn’t currently used for anything. We hope to add functionality in the future that helps connect you with others at the same school or university. But we don’t have any plans as to how this would work yet.
- Workplace details - This lets us know a little more about how you want to use Kahoot!. On occasion, we’ll have special offers available based on your choice here.
- Pick a username - This is a persistent identifier for you within our services. Kahoots that you make visible to everyone can be found if others search by your username. Others can also share kahoots visible to only themselves with you if they know your username. Your username must be 20 characters max, with no spaces or special characters (except for underscores and periods).
- Add your email address - If you didn’t choose to sign up with Google or Microsoft, then you’ll need to provide an email address. You’ll be able to sign in with your username or email. You may also receive marketing and service notifications (including password resets) based on your account settings.
- Create a password - If you didn’t choose to sign up with Google or Microsoft, then you’ll need to create a password. This is a security code that only you should be able to remember. You will use it with your username or email to sign in to your account. Your password must be between 6 to 20 characters long.
Opt-in and “Join Kahoot!” buttons
Below the account detail fields are three checkboxes. Before you click the “Join Kahoot!” button, it’s expected that you read our Terms and Conditions as well as Privacy Policy. These cover your obligations related to responsible use and conduct, details on how billing of subscriptions works, our practices related to safeguarding user data, and more.
- You can also opt-out of letting Kahoot! send you information, offers, recommendations and updates. This is typically email newsletters with recommended kahoots and information about new product features.
- You can also opt-in to let Kahoot! send you relevant information on behalf of other companies, often in the form of recommended kahoots made by our partners. Information such as your email will NEVER be shared with anyone else. You can opt-out of marketing messages at any time.
As a student
- Enter your date of birth - If you are under the age of 13 (for U.S. users) or 16 (for non-U.S. users), we have special safeguards we’ll place on your account until you come of age.
- Add your school or university - This isn’t currently used for anything. We hope to add functionality in the future that helps connect you with others at the same school or university. But we don’t have any plans as to how this would work yet.
