What is a Student pass?
Student pass is a function that allows teachers to easily share access to our premium functionality geared towards students, including learning apps and enhanced creator functionality by simply sharing a QR code or a link.
Important
Every time teacher’s Student passes renew, students lose access to the previously redeemed ones. Check the relevant pricing page (school teacher or higher education) to check how often your passes will renew. In order to keep students learning, the teacher needs to share new passes after each renewal. Students can pick up where they left off after redeeming a new pass.
The number of Student passes included in the EDU subscription will renew on the 1st of August regardless of when the pass was redeemed. Teachers can make sure that every school year the passes are shared with their current students.

- How many Student passes can I share and how long are they valid?
The number and duration of passes depend on your account type and subscription level. You can check the pricing page to find out how many passes are available for you and how long they last.

- What happens when the Student pass expires?
The student is informed about it in the app and on the platform after logging in. They lose access to all the benefits of the pass until they activate a new one. - Can I extend the duration of the Student pass instead of sharing a new one?
No, after a Student pass’s duration is finished teacher needs to share a new pass to let the student use the benefits of the pass.
- What if a student doesn’t have a Kahoot! account and app?
After redeeming the pass our app or web platform will ask them to create an account and download the apps included in the pass. The Student pass will be activated on the newly created account.
- My students are not getting full access to the learning apps. Why are payment screens still shown in the learning apps?
This means the Student pass has not been activated by the student yet. See How to redeem a Student pass.
- My school restricts the apps that can be used by the students. How do I enable my students to use learning apps included in the pass?
Before sharing Student passes, contact your school’s system admin and ask to install or approve the learning apps you want to include in the passes. Downloading the apps is free. You can share the below links with the admin:
