Timer not synced on student devices Answered

  • Hi Dr_Gleason! You might want to have a look at our help article about avoiding connectivity issues. What you've described sounds like a latency issue (connection is stable, but slow). Slowness can be due to various things on your device, the school network, or student devices.

    • It's possible that network security software is delaying/throttling websocket connections, to which an IT admin at your school would need to review our connectivity article and diagnose.
    • It's possible that your device is performing slower due to several apps open at once (the hosting device is critical in calculating several data points for participants, such as if the submitted response is correct and how many points to award).
    • It's possible that students are set up at your school with different and more restrictive network access than you, which throttles their connections more so than what you experience.
    • It's possible that your or student devices are using outdated operating systems and/or browsers, which can cause unexpected gameplay behavior without a true latency issue.

While the above points might give you some guidance on what to check, we unfortunately cannot tell what is specifically causing the issue you're experiencing. Your best best to resolve such issues that don't seem to be widespread (check our status page) is to report this to your IT admin and offer our connectivity article as guidance on how our web services work.
