    Hi all!

Great news: kahoot.it can now be used to play live games AND challenges.

Please know that challenges don't currently support some of our newest features, specifically word cloud and open-ended question types. We aim to add support for those ASAP.

There is a warning about this at the top of this article. You can check periodically to see if the warning is removed.

  • I totally agree.  Let the challenge links be played on computers also for those that don't have mobile devices.

  • I am not able to launch a challenge in Kahoots where it is required to order sentences  Is it possible to make a challenge in this type of games?

  • I REALLY want students to be able to play challenges from a computer. Our school has invested in Chromebooks, and I want students to be able to move through assignments and practice independently on the Chromebooks. Challenges should be accessible on computers...the idea that they currently are not is absurd.

  • I downloaded the Kahoot app from the Microsoft store thinking it would allow Challenge play, but it won't.  I want to use these individually for students to do a quick study before a quiz without being "pressured" from classmates to choose and answer or answer too quickly.  Thank you for all you're doing though!  I love seeing my kids engaged!

  • I completely agree!  Many of my students do not own phones but are able to access computers through our library.  Website access for the challenges would be amazing and make me want to use Kahoot even more!

    Thanks!

  • I only use Quizizz for homework assignments, because of the app issue.  Quizizz games can be played in a computer browser, and on cellphones so it's perfect for homework assignments.

When Kahoot provides a browser option for Challenges, then I will use Kahoot again for homework assignments.

  • I completely agree with this!  I am a School Technology Specialist. I have multiple teachers asking me to install the mobile app on their laptops, but if that doesn't even work for them, then they can't use the challenge feature at all with their students.

  • Hey Kahoot please see this thread! I teach nursing students who love to use Kahoot in the classroom when I run it, but want to be able to use the Kahoots on their computers, too. Please make changes that allow users on computers, tablets etc..

  • I totally agree! using Kahoot Challenges on Windows using any browser seems an obvious feature.

  • Agree with everyone else here - I'm unable to use Kahoot for homework tasks and will need to look elsewhere to other providers if the challenge feature is unavailable on a desktop or laptop. It is perplexing why it's available on an app but not online on a regular computer..... PLEEEEASE?

  • I have a classroom set of iPads that all have the app, but - for some reason - the first student to take a challenge on an iPad is the ONLY student who can take it.  Any other class who tries can't get rid of the previous player's results, and can't start the challenge for themselves.

  • Please make the challenge feature available to use with browsers. I work with individuals with developmental disabilities and most do not have smart phones we provide access to tablet and desktop computers so adding challenges to function through a browser link would make accessibility so much easier for all.

  • Yes agree with everything others have said - I am currently able to use kahoot at all at one of my schools as our internet access/set up is so bad we can't do the online quizzes and students can only access laptops or desktop computers. Very disappointing.

  • How can students type their own name?

  • Hi TeacherV1!

When joining a live game or challenge, a nickname is required of each player. This is to serve as a unique alias to tell apart their performance activity. But we cannot condone use of actual names for nicknames. This identifier, by design, is meant to be anonymous.

When looking at game reports, you'll be able to review individual performance activity. But it's not identifiable. This information is intended to help you spot trends and adjust lessons, not to identify students.

  • Could you add a teacher option to disable students' seeing each other's scores while they're taking a challenge kahoot? It was a helpful step for this tool to be able to remove the stress on fast answering, and letting students be able to focus on their own progress only (as opposed to their score in comparison with the other students) would be another helpful feature to add.

  • With COVID-19 shelter-in-place in my district, I spent ALL afternoon creating a Kahoot to assign as a challenge for my students to complete at home, only to realize that they cannot complete it on a computer. So frustrating!! I even had to upgrade to Kahoot PRO because I wanted open-ended questions, so I spent my time and money for nothing. I wish this information was clear. All your blog entries and articles say that students can join in a supported browser, but this information is inaccurate. I´m all for supporting your platform, but this is just... no.

  • I've come up with this issue today. The weird thing is that my students have been doing challenges for the past few weeks and none of them had told me they had to download the app, until today. Has anything changed??

  • Nothing has changed, sadly. So I had to assign my challenge as "optional", since not all of them are able to download the app. Very disappointing :(

  • I sent an email to support, and I got an immedidate solution. The "download the app" appears when you choose "Personalised learning" when you set up the challenge. So, it's as easy as making sure you don't choose that option. At least it has worked for me. :)
