It seems that Kahoot recently updated the answer field and disposed of the ability to incorporate subscripts or superscripts in the answer responses. I noticed that you could paste items into the answer field. However, the subscripts do not look like subscripts at all. As a chemistry teacher that uses subscripts for writing chemical formulas, the inability to incorporate subscripts or superscripts is a step-down. I'm not sure why the ability to do this was changed.
Subscripts in answer choices

I'm also totally baffled by this. I've been using Kahoot in my chemistry lessons for several years now, and the removal of this feature will probably mean I will stop using Kahoot for chemistry quizzes.
Come on Kahoot team, what are you doing?
Math teacher here, completely agreeing with my chemistry colleagues.
This is a terrible choice. Why take functionality AWAY from teachers?
Another chemistry teacher here baffled by this issue. Any response from the Kahoot team?
I'm so disappointed. Without subscripts, I can't use kahoots for chemistry
Still nothing but crickets from the Kahoot team.
There *is* a workaround, though. You can still put subscripts and superscripts in the QUESTION. And you can then copy-and-paste from the question to the answer, and the subscripts and superscripts remain. Awkward, but functional.
You can also make images of the answers you want and upload those, but that's more time consuming, slower to load, and generally a lot of work for little payoff.

You can also type your answers in Word or similar program and cut and paste. It's still much more inconvenient. I can't fathom why Kahoot! changed it. What were they thinking?????
this work around does not work in open ended questions, and even if it did, how would students enter their answers if they contain an exponent.
