BACKGROUND
Kahoot! has a set library of countdown music based on the length of each question's timer. These tracks are not always appropriate for the topic or audience.
SOLUTION
It would be great if Kahoot! allowed for uploading of my own sound clips that could be played once or on loop during a question countdown timer. Alternatively, if I want no music to play and only want to hear embedded youtube videos, I should be able to toggle that.
WORKAROUND
Since the countdown music is not currently editable, the closest option is to embed a youtube video that will serve as the background music you want. You can set the start/stop time of the video to be however long you want the question to remain answerable. You can then set each question timer to 5 seconds. You only end up hearing Kahoot!'s 5 second tracks if you've not receive an answer from everyone before the video stops playing. If you'd prefer, you can also use the "skip" button during gameplay to end the question before the Kahoot! music starts. Any answers submitted before using that button will count.

I work with students that have a variety of disabilities and some need the information read aloud and this is not possible witht he music blaring. In person I can mute the volume on the computer, but with distance learning if I mute the music I mute myself and the ability to read aloud for those students who need that accommodation.
Today, my Grade 7 student told me how to stop the annoying music. I came here to tell everyone else and then saw that hinmanw shared the solution (also from a student) a year ago. I see that many of you didn't see it.
All you have to do is right click on the tab for your Kahoot site and click on 'mute site' (Maybe you have to do it for each game? I don't know.).
Interesting that this webpage is entitled support.kahoot.com, yet it seems there is no support from Kahoot on this issue. I too find when I play videos the sound is drowned out by the Kahoot jingle. It nullifies the entire YouTube play feature
In the android app at least, you can click on your profile (top left) and then the settings cog (top right) and then turn the music off altogether
Yes, option to turn the music on or off. Keep the sound FX's of the answer counter on.
