I've been using Kahoot in my classroom, and it's been fantastic for engaging students. However, I've noticed that it might not be as inclusive for students with special needs. I've got some ideas on how we could make it better:
1. Special Needs Checkbox: How about adding a checkbox during login where students can designate themselves as special needs? It could be hidden for regular students but easy for teachers to find. This way, special needs students can play without worrying about their scores affecting the team.
2. Score Exemption: It'd be great if the scores of special needs students didn't impact their team's overall score. And if they get answers wrong during team activities, it wouldn't hurt the team either. But it'd still be cool if their individual scores were recorded for the teacher to see.
3. Adaptive Gameplay: In more complex games like Color Kingdoms, special needs students could get a bit of help. Maybe they could place tiles after a few questions, even if they don't answer them correctly. We want everyone to be able to play along, right?
4. Teacher Override: Teachers could also have the option to mark a student as special needs from their end. It's not something we'd use all the time, but it'd be handy for those rare cases.
5. Identification in Reports: It'd be useful if the reports showed whether a player was marked as special needs. That way, teachers can keep track of how everyone's doing and make sure everything's fair.
6. Switching Designation Mid-Game: Sometimes mistakes happen during login. It'd be neat if teachers could switch a student to special needs even after the game's started. That way, no one misses out on the fun.
Just some thoughts from a Kahoot fan who wants to make sure everyone can join in on the fun. Keep up the great work!
