My kids love using Kahoot. It’s a staple in my teaching! However, I feel to take Kahoot to the next level would be adding a little game mode or activity for the kids to do while they wait. What I mean by this is that once the kids put the pin, their name, and select their character they ask “what can I do now?” And I usually suggest, just play around with the character. But this doesn’t work for so long. So I wonder if a mini game can be added for the kids while they wait for the rest of the class to login. It could even be using the own character they made! I’ve seen this done in Blooket (another Ed tech app) where the kids play a version of flappy bird with their chosen character while they wait for their classmates to login/join the game.

Thank you so much for possibly considering. I’m attaching a screenshot of a reference (Blooket). The kids play with their selected character while they wait for the host (teacher) to begin the game. This would ease a lot of sitting and waiting time if there are kids with tech issues, login issues, or kids who are quick to login.
I thought I’d share a quick mock-up of what a ‘While You Wait’ mini-game could look like. Something simple and fun like this could keep players engaged while we wait for everyone else to join— just an idea for the future. Thanks!!
