Custom topics

Custom Topics allow you to create personalized learning topics from a short prompt. Instead of relying solely on the standard curriculum, you can generate a topic tailored to your specific interests, classroom needs, or travel goals using Kahoot!'s existing language catalogue.

Where to find Custom Topics

Custom Topics appear directly under Learning paths on your screen. The card displays:

• Cover topics outside the curated library

• Pick only the terms you want

• Built in seconds from a short prompt

How to create a Custom Topic

1. Go to the Language Learning screen.

2. Under Learning paths, locate the Custom Topics card and select Generate.

3. Enter a prompt describing what you want to learn (such as "Travel phrases" or "Business English"), or pick one of the suggested topics.

4. Select Generate to produce a draft topic containing a curated list of terms.

How to customize your draft

Before saving your new topic, you can refine its content:

• Edit the topic name: Select the pencil icon next to the topic title.

• Remove terms: Select the remove icon next to any word you do not wish to practice.

• Add terms: Use the search terms field to search Kahoot!'s catalogue and add additional relevant words.

How to save your topic

• When you are satisfied with the terms in your draft, select Confirm.

• Your new topic is saved to your library, where you can start learning and practicing it just like any standard topic.

Plan limits

The number of Custom Topics you can create depends on your subscription plan:

• Free: 1 custom topic

• Kahoot!+ Bronze: 3 custom topics

• Kahoot!+ Silver, Kahoot!+ Gold, Kahoot! One, and Kahoot! One Max: Unlimited custom topics

• Where do the vocabulary terms come from? Terms in Custom Topics are curated from Kahoot!'s verified language catalogue. This ensures all words include correct native-speaker audio, illustrations, and accurate translations.

• Is a Custom Topic available across all languages? Custom Topics are created specifically for the language you are currently learning. If you switch your active language, your custom topics remain tied to the language in which they were created.

• Does learning a Custom Topic count toward my streaks and review? Yes. Saved Custom Topics fully integrate with your streaks, progress tracking, and review tools like Review Dojo.
