Writing style and Roman assist
When learning a new language in Kahoot! Language Learning, there are two settings that can help customize how words are displayed depending on the language: Writing style and Roman assist.
Writing style
The Writing style option allows you to choose your preferred character set. Currently, this feature is available for:
- Chinese Mandarin: Switch between Simplified and Traditional characters.
- Japanese: Switch between Kana only, or a combination of Kanji and Kana.
Roman assist
The Roman assist option allows you to toggle between Romanized spelling and the language's native script (e.g., Romaji/Kanji, Pinyin, Cyrillic).
This feature is particularly useful for languages that use entirely different writing systems, including:
- Japanese
- Chinese Mandarin
- Korean
- Russian
- Arabic
- Hebrew
How to change these settings
- Open Kahoot! Language Learning on the web.
- Tap the Settings gear icon in the top right corner.
- Scroll down the settings menu until you find Writing style or Roman assist.
- Tap on the desired option to select your preference.
Note: If these options don't appear, it means the language you are learning currently only supports a single writing system and/ or does not require Roman assist.
