You can display questions and answers on players’ devices in live kahoots. The kahoot participants won’t need to see the host’s screen anymore to engage in the game experience. This can be particularly useful when:
- Hosting remotely (on Zoom, MS Teams, or other conference/streaming tools), and the players only have one device;
- Your classroom or auditorium is too large so players in the back of the room can’t see the shared screen well enough;
- Hosting on a small screen;
- Making the live experience more accessible for players with visual impairments;
- Hosting where even a large screen may appear small to some from a distance.
How to enable questions and answers on players' screens?
You will be able to turn it on through the game settings prior to starting a live game and in-between questions during the game. This option is available for free for all Kahoot! users 🎉
To activate this game option:
- Open a kahoot you’d like to host.
- Click Start - this will launch a Live game.
- In the Settings panel (you can open it by clicking the switch icon on the left side of the screen) enable the "Show questions & answers" option.
- Click Classic mode if you have a 1:1 class, or Team mode if you’d like players to play in teams.
- You are all set now! 🎉 Players will now see questions and answers on their device screens, in addition to the screen you’re sharing as a host.
↙️ This is how this game mode works in practice ↘️
Will the scoreboard in between questions and the podium be shown on players' devices?
No, the host’s screen will be the only one displaying these.
How does this impact the bandwidth requirement for hosting a game?
You can see our typical bandwidth recommendations here. That guidance does not account for this new feature. When enabled, you need to consider if your players are joining remotely or in-person. If they are joining via the same local network you’re using, then bandwidth per player increases dramatically in order to queue up images and videos on all devices at the same time. We don’t have an analysis on how much it increases yet, though we’ll update bandwidth requirements once we do. If joining remotely, then your own bandwidth requirement should remain about the same. Instead, each player’s network will bear the brunt of any extra load. Again, we don’t yet have an analysis of what that load is but will update bandwidth requirements once we do
Why are some players taking longer to display questions?
Single screen game mode requires player devices to load a lot more information than when this is disabled. Due to differences in device processing speeds, questions are more likely to not load simultaneously across all devices.
Why are some players’ devices not playing videos?
Videos are hosted at https://youtube.com. If players are on a network that blocks access to YouTube or if their device has security software that blocks YouTube, then videos will not load. An admin for the player’s network and/or devices may be able to unblock YouTube.

I thought this was going to be the perfect tool for my virtual classes. We meet every other week in the classroom and every other week via conference calls. It is vital for us to review the weekly information virtually but the students cannot see the answers. It was a real fail tonight when this occurred on our conference call. I thought Kahoot was our answer. Sorely disappointed. PLEASE add a virtual function to enable everyone to see the answers. Additionally, I first used Kahoot in an adult training at a major airline. I am partially blind which made it extremely difficult to play looking up at the screen and then down at mine. Once again, it would be so beneficial to have the option to see the answers on one's own screen. I am going to have to find another app like this to use.
I copy what K9_Annergy wrote: PLEASE add a virtual function to enable everyone to see the answers.
I would also like the option to turn on this feature - it could be in the user settings per account or per quiz - show the questions to the user devices as a checkbox.
I agree that this would be a super helpful feature! I have a students with a visual impairement and I have to read the answers to him each time we play. It slows him down and he doesn't want to play anymore because he cannot answer as fast as his peers.
This would also be useful to my particular use case.
Ideally as an option that could be switched on/off per quiz.
And even just being able to see the answer options, not just the colours.
Its a lot better to have the option! I don't have access to a shared screen in my class. I would have liked for them to see all their questions and answers on their own device. Please add this feature as an option.
I understand why Kahoot did this, but it seems that it would be better to leave that choice up to classroom teachers. The current setup is very difficult for kids with visual impairments to use and an option to display questions and answers on the screen should be available for teachers to decide whether or not to use.
It would be really helpful if this feature is an option, cause it could help the students to concentrate only on their screen and it also could cheer up for students who sit far from the main screen in front of the room to enjoy playing each game.
In my classroom, students have individual chrome books, but there is no smart board or projector for me as a teacher to project questions and answers. I think my students would love engaging with Kahoots, but unfortunately the current set up doesn't allow us to utilize the technology in my current classroom. :(
Out team now meats virtually so this is become a problem for us.
I’d love to have the option for students to see the question and answer options on their devices. Otherwise, we have to move students around the classroom for them to be able to see all the answer options on the main screen.
When you`re teaching a class of over 20 students, it can be quite hard to see the answers from one place as they are rather small. I hope that Kahoot will let us decide to have answers on the student`s own tablets in the future.
We are using Kahoot virtually (three class rooms across globe) and right now Students have to move closer to screen. It is not good experience. Please reconsider above decision. We are thinking to move to Quizziz for that reason.
I will put this very plain and simple: either this option becomes available or I move on to the next application!
This design should work OK for my current class, but if my class was even slightly larger it would become a problem. It can be difficult to see the answers on the screen from the back row of the classroom.
I am a member of the Dayton Engineers Club. One of the Club activities is the "Barn Gang" which is a group of senior mostly retired engineers who meet weekly to discuss current technical events. See links below for more information on the Barn Gang

I introduced Kahoot several weeks ago and they were very enthusiastic about the application; however, due to failing eyesight many could not see the large central screen and could not fully participate. I received several comments about their frustration with a request to resolve.
It was suggested that displaying the question along with possible answers would address the concern.
This functionality is a must for me as well. Unfortunately not everyone participating would have access to a TV.
Guys it's a must!!!!
Please add this functionnality !!! (if i will quit your service one day, it's because other service will purpose me this functionnality)
Please add this function!!!!!
anybody know of a different app to use in the mean time?
We are having trouble at our University with instructors using Kahoot in classes with visually impaired students. The students cannot see the question on the main display, and it's not available to see on the app, so they miss out completely. Sounds like a great idea for an update!
My classroom doesn't have a large screen or projector, and I have to read the questions and answers out loud which makes students cofused and slows them down. The whole experience is made worse by the lack of clear questions and answers in the student version of the game. Please, add this feature, it would be most helpful for my classroom.
Please update this app, nobody cant see the questions or the choice. its so confusing to people thats learning how to play the game.

Simple solution, provide an option where teachers can choose one or the other. Not every school or classroom has a central IWB / projector-whiteboard
no i don't like your idea give me the option and i will choose which fit with me ,,,,, sometimes i need to make it in a bus during a trip !!!
My son has a learning disability, visual processing issues, and slower processing speed. He loves Kahoot but is increasingly frustrated because looking back and forth between his computer and the main projection is challenging for him. Being able to see the answers on individual screens will make Kahoot accessible for people with many different kinds of disabilities. If there was an option for two different codes that a teacher could use in a classroom with a projector, the majority of the class could use the main screen to see answers, and those who needed accommodations could enter a code that put the answers on their individual screen, thereby making the game accessible and enjoyable for all.
Please consider adding an option for individual screens to display answers. Thank you!
Answers on participants screen should be a option there is no doubt about its utility. PL. provide
It should definitely be an option. I have students with visual impairment (partial blindness as well as colorblindness) as well as students with cognitive impairment and looking back and forth between their devices and the screen is a big obstacle for them. I am shocked that Kahoot doesn't offer this when it is so blatantly an accessibility issue.
For anyone reading who needs this functionality ASAP, I believe Quizlet Live has the option to show on student screens.
We are not looking to use this in a Education environment but a business environment. Having used it in an education environment and found how hard it was to look at the screen read the question and look down it was not very functional (I actually thought my browser was just having an issue) For corporate and remote training, they would need to be able to view the question on their device, it would make this a much more useful too. We will have to consider alternatives for corporate training as it looks like this isn't even on your road map.
