Kahootopia!: How to start and create your first island

1. Log in to your Kahoot! account, click on the Kahootopia! banner or Kahootopia! tab on the left side panel to create your first island.
   
   
2. Click Get started and provide the Name of the island, select Grade (if applicable), and click Create island.
   
   
3. Congratulations! 🎉 You've just created your first island. This will be the home base where your achievements will be showcased as you play kahoot games.
   

Kahootopia!: How to locate and manage islands

Locate your islands
After logging into your Kahoot! account, click the Kahootopia! tab, or locate your created islands on the Home page.

Manage your islands

You can modify the name of an island or delete it by clicking the Go to Island button or accessing them from Kahootopia! tab on the left side panel. To view all your islands, click the Map icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.

Kahootopia!: How to host a live game

Once your island is set up, you can start engaging in real-time kahoot games that contribute to your island's progression:

1. Once you're logged in, click Kahootopia! button on the left side panel, or select the island where you want to play a kahoot and earn rewards from your Home page.
   
   Alternatively, you can locate the kahoot you want to host in your Library tab or the Discover page, click the Host live button, and select the island.
   
   
   ☝️ If you prefer to play kahoot without the island and rewards, click the "Continue without island" button. 
2. Click New game button and find a kahoot you would like to play.
   
3. You can either pick one of the kahoots you’ve created or previously played from your library, or, if you don’t have the kahoot you need, use the search feature to find the content you're interested in. You can select from subjects like Math, Science, English, and more.
   
4. Once you’ve picked the kahoot you want to play, select the game mode that best fits your classroom’s needs.
   
5. Click Start and let players join the game.

Kahootopia!: How rewards and levels work

Kahootopia! turns learning into an adventure by visually representing your achievements through rewards and levels. Here’s how it works:

🏰 Earning rewards for your island

When you complete a kahoot with a specific Game Mode (Classic, Treasure Trove, etc.) or Subject Matter (like Math, Science, or English), you earn a new building for your island. Along with the building, you'll also receive a common house that matches the specific kahoots' topic. Plus, you can unlock decorations to personalize your island even more..

🏝️ How it works

Let’s say you start with a brand-new island that doesn’t have any buildings yet. You’ve created two kahoots, both related to the topic of Science:

• play kahoot A and finish the game: your class earn a Science-themed building and a common house that’s colored to match the Science theme.

• play kahoot B and finish the game: You upgrade your existing Science building (shown on a progress bar) and receive another common house in the Science color. Since you’re playing kahoot B (a different kahoot), it gives you an additional common house, not just an upgrade.

💡 To access Achievements and view an overview of what has been accomplished and what remains to be unlocked, click on the Treasure Chest icon located in the upper left corner of the screen.

💡 Students now have access to an achievement button on their controller when the lobby and island screens are displayed. By clicking this button, students can view the achievements they have unlocked as well as those that are still pending.

🏨 Building quality

The quality of the buildings and houses reflects the class's performance in the kahoot. Here’s how performance impacts the buildings/houses:

• Correct answers: A higher percentage of correct answers leads to a more luxurious building/common house. Conversely, if there are many mistakes, a more basic building is awarded.
• Replaying kahoots: Replaying a kahoot in a specific game mode or subject can improve the building/common house, encouraging students to revisit and aim for better scores.

🔝 To boost your score and unlock more rewards, click on the common house associated with your desired kahoot topic, then click Play Again.

🚀 Class island progression and levels

Kahootopia! fosters a sense of progression through levels, which grow as the class plays more kahoots. To progress, your class needs to complete 2 kahoots for level 1 and 2, then 3 kahoots to all other Island levels.  As the island reaches higher levels, it evolves, showcasing the growth and achievements!

What is Kahootopia! Leagues and how to join them

After playing a few kahoots with your island, a brand-new Leagues system will become available! This exciting feature allows hosts and creators to earn points in multiple ways, such as:
✅ Playing kahoots
✅ Improving the island’s average accuracy score
✅ Completing various achievements

Once you opt into Kahootopia! Leagues, your island will enter a competitive ranking against other islands. Islands are group by 20, and will compete to earn trophies over a 2-month period. The more trophies you collect, the higher your island climbs!

🏆 League Tiers:

In Kahootopia!, every island takes part in an exciting tier-based competition system. Whether you're just getting started or aiming for the top, there's a league waiting for you! 🚀✨

💬 Before joining a League, every island must choose a Public Name - this will be visible to other players, unlike your private island name. So make it catchy, creative, and full of personality! 

🔍 To track your island’s journey, just tap the "Leagues" button anytime to check your current ranking and see how close you are to leveling up.
