What is Kahoot! AI Assistant
Kahoot! AI Assistant is a side panel inside the creator/editor that acts as your AI co-creator. It:
- Looks at the current slide or question you are editing, as well as the overall kahoot title, description, language, and other slides for context.
- Offers relevant quick actions (suggestion tiles) depending on the slide type.
- Can autocomplete slide content (it can even autocomplete an empty slide because it is aware of previous slides!), suggest images, and help you spot potential inaccuracies.
- Always lets you review a preview and accept or reject changes before anything is applied.
You stay in full control: the assistant suggests; you decide what to keep.
Where to find Kahoot! AI Assistant in the creator
On the web platform, you’ll see a new right‑hand sidebar when you open or create a kahoot:
- Open the kahoot creator on the web (for example, when you create a kahoot or edit an existing one).
- On the right side, look for the vertical icon bar with three buttons:
- Assistant (sparkle icon) – opens the Kahoot! AI Assistant
- Themes – design and appearance options
- Properties – settings for the selected slide or question
- Click the Assistant (sparkle) button to open the Kahoot! AI Assistant panel.
- The first time you see this sidebar, an onboarding pop-up briefly explains the new layout and icons.
From here, you can select any question or slide in your kahoot and start using the assistant.
How to use Kahoot! AI assistant
When you open the AI Assistant and select a slide, you’ll see contextual suggestion tiles – quick actions that are tailored to the slide type you are working on.
1. Autocomplete slide
What it does:
AI analyzes your current slide/question and auto‑fills:
- Question text (or main slide text)
- Answer options (where applicable)
- Media suggestions (for supported slide types)
Typical use cases:
- You wrote only a topic or short prompt and want full questions and answers generated for you.
- You have a partial question and want AI to finish it and fill in plausible distractors.
This complements other AI creation flows that start from a topic, PDF, URL, or slides, but works directly inside the creator on the slide you are editing.
2. Suggest image
What it does:
- Finds images that match your slide content (for example, based on the question text or topic).
- Uses integrated image sources such as Unsplash and Getty Images (availability may depend on your plan and segment).
Use this when you:
- Want a relevant illustration without manually searching.
- Need to quickly add engaging visuals to quizzes, presentations or micro lessons.
3. Increase difficulty
What it does:
Makes the current question more challenging, for example by:
- Using more advanced terminology or concepts (within your topic).
- Making answer options less obvious.
- Reducing hints in the wording.
- Change the question type (for example, from Quiz to Type Answer)
Use it when you:
- Adapt a kahoot from younger learners to older or more advanced groups.
- Turn a casual quiz into something closer to test prep / knowledge check style content.
4. Verify accuracy
What it does:
- Reviews the current question and answer set and tries to spot potential errors or inconsistencies.
- Suggests corrections where the content appears incorrect or unclear.
This is especially helpful when:
- You generated questions from AI tools (topic, PDF, URL, slides) and want an extra pass on correctness.
- You imported questions from other sources and want to quickly check them.
Even with Verify accuracy, you must manually review everything before using it with learners, as AI‑generated content can still contain inaccuracies or bias.
5. Suggest next actions
What it does:
- Anticipates your needs by proposing logical next steps during the kahoot creation process.
- Contextually recommends actions such as:
- Changing the question type to better suit the content.
- Creating a follow-up question or slide to expand on the topic.
- Shifting the topic for variety or progression.
-
Generating a purpose-built image tailored specifically to your question (if available with your plan)
Use it when you:
- Want to streamline the creation process from a single question to a fully presentable kahoot.
- Need inspiration for how to logically follow up a specific question or slide.
How to preview and apply AI‑generated changes
Whenever the assistant suggests changes (for example, after using Autocomplete slide), you will see:
Side‑by‑side preview
- Original: Your current slide/question exactly as it is.
-
Suggested: The version proposed by Kahoot! AI Assistant.
If you don't like it, simply click the Undo button to reject the suggestion and keep your original content.
AI disclaimer
- A reminder clearly states that "This content is AI generated. Please review before hosting your kahoot."
- This reflects Kahoot!'s guidance that all AI‑generated content must be checked for accuracy, suitability, and policy compliance before use.
You can repeat the process and refine further until you are happy with the slide. Afterwards, continue editing manually or move on to the next question.
Supported slide and question types
Kahoot! AI Assistant works with all standard Kahoot! question and slide types.
This gives you a single assistant that can help across review games, exit tickets, workshops, presentations, briefings, vocab drills, test prep and more, depending on the format you choose.
