How to flag inappropriate Kahoot! content
You can flag kahoots that violate our Editorial Guidelines. We value creativity and free expression while recognizing Kahoot! must be a place for facts, safety, privacy, and dignity. This guide shows how to flag content that needs a review.
How to flag a kahoot
-
When viewing a kahoot's Details, open the options menu and choose the Flag kahoot option.
-
You’ll be asked to choose a category and a sub-category. You'll also be asked to add anything you think we should know and to specify if the problem is with words, pictures, or both. Lastly, you can upload an image to ensure our moderators know exactly what you see as a problem.
Please be as detailed as possible. If we cannot determine why the kahoot was flagged, the kahoot may be approved and cannot be reported again until the creator makes a change to it.
- If you cannot flag content, contact our Support Team with a link to the kahoot and a description of the issue.
- After you click Flag, the kahoot will be marked with a red banner informing it that it has been flagged for moderation. The kahoot is now removed from Discover page search results.
One of our moderators will usually review it within 24 hours.
- If our moderators agree that the kahoot should not be public, the creator will be notified that the kahoot is now quarantined. As such, the creator can only edit the kahoot.
- If our moderators disagree, or the quarantined kahoot is revised to a state we believe is appropriate, the kahoot will be approved for public access.
How we decide what is or isn't appropriate
Our editorial guidelines has a section titled inappropriate content that defines in more detail what we don't allow. In short, we don't allow content that:
- contains or encourages violence or criminal behavior
- may threaten the safety of our users, or that may encourage unsafe or harmful behavior
- is illegal, discriminating or clearly inappropriate or objectionable
- threatens the integrity and authenticity of our platform, our kahoots and our verified educators
Again, we value creativity and free expression. We do make some exceptions for content that we believe is for clear educational purposes. For example, the famous painting "The Birth of Venus" by Sandro Botticelli technically has nudity in it. We may not allow an image of this in a typical trivia kahoot. But it would likely be fine in a kahoot about the artist or the Italian Renaissance.
Copyright, intellectual property(IP), or trademark infringement
If you posess documentation certifying you or an entity you represent owns the rights to materials being infringed by a creator on our platform, please see the "Content reporting and DMCA" section in our Acceptable Use Policy for guidance on how to notify our legal team. Valid notices will be handled promptly.
Duplicated content
When you save a kahoot as public, it may appear in search results on our Discover page. Publicly-found content can be duplicated by others. We do not consider this inappropriate. Often, users may find content that's near-perfect for their intentions. We encourage duplication so that they can make it exactly what they need. If you don't want your content to be duplicated, make it private or upgrade to a plan that allows you to prevent duplication.
Inaccurate content
If you find a kahoot that has incorrect information in it, please consider the severity of the misinformation. We don't allow promotion of hate speech or things like COVID-19 misinformation that are known to have real-world effects on public safety or civic discourse. Whereas a typo doesn't risk serious or widespread harm and is more quickly remedied by duplicating the kahoot.

I have flagged a kahoots that were literally duplicates. Duplicating and adding nothing new nor editing anything is a waste of time and server space. Some kahoots that I flagged the user even edited a question or two to have an incorrect answer, other users have just deleted one question from the duplicate to seem like they edit did anything substantial.
Hi LuckyESL! As long as the content isn't violating laws or our terms and conditions, duplicating public kahoots is fine.
Unless a kahoot contains false information that can reasonably be considered defamation, discrimination, or risking negative effects on civic discourse, elections, or public safety, there is no need to flag kahoots due to containing incorrect answers.
