How can I change my password while signed in?

If you already know your current password and just want to update it, you can easily do so from your profile settings.

  1. Click on your avatar in the top right corner of the platform and select Profile settings.
  2. Go to the Change password section.
  3. Enter your current password.
  4. Enter and repeat your new password.
  5. Click Save.

How do I reset my password if I can't sign in?

If you forgot your password and are locked out of your account, you will need to trigger a password reset link to your email.

  1. Go to our password reset page at https://create.kahoot.it/auth/forgot-password.
  2. Enter your email and click Send reset link.
  3. Look in your email inbox for a new message from noreply@getkahoot.com. Make sure to check the spam folder.
  4. Use the one-time-use link in that message to set a new password.
☝️  The password reset link is only valid for 24 hours.

Why am I not receiving my password reset email?

Password reset emails should typically arrive within 5 minutes. If you do not see it, consider these common reasons:

  • Apple Private Relay: If you registered using an Apple Private Relay email address (ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com), password reset emails cannot be delivered to it.
  • Rate Limiting: Our tool limits how often you can request a password reset. If you see an error asking you to try again later, please wait about an hour or try a different device.
  • Firewalls and Filters: Schools and businesses often have heightened security settings. If the email isn't in your spam folder, ask your IT admin to add noreply@getkahoot.com to their allowlist.

What if my Single Sign-On (SSO) is not working?

When creating an account, you may have chosen to sign up via Google, Microsoft, Apple, or Clever. If so, you must log in using that specific SSO method.

🔗 If your SSO email is about to change (e.g., graduating or leaving a job), it is crucial that you sign in and update your email on file beforehand. We cannot verify your identity if you lose access to the email on file, and you will be forced to create a new account. You can view our guide to manage your profile settings to update your email.

How do young students sign in if they forget their password?

If you already reset your password but the system says it is incorrect, try signing in with your username. Young students cannot sign in using an email address. If you have forgotten your Kahoot! username, check the reset password email sent to you, as it will be listed there.

  • I have not been able to change the name of my school.  I have tried "settings" and searched everywhere but cannot find instructions on how to change the name of the school on my account.  Please help!

  • I accidentally clicked business or somehing instead of personal when I was creating my account and it wont let me go back to change it. I'm now just stuck at the choosing a business plan page because it keeps making me entering a credit card number even though I don't have one cause I'm a kid! Can someone help me delete my account or something so I can start over and click the right button this time?
