Kahoot! accounts are free for students and teachers.
If you plan to use Kahoot! for business purposes, you’ll need to purchase a license to use Kahoot!, or accept an invite from an admin who has paid for a license on your behalf. Every paid license helps us keep Kahoot! free for teachers and students around the world.
STEP 1: Role
This helps us ensure your experience with Kahoot! is tailored to your needs.
- STUDENT: For creating kahoots and presenting what you’re learning to teachers and peers.
- TEACHER: For lesson-building and engaging students in new materials.
- WORK: For internal or commercial trainings, events, and product promotion.
- SOCIAL: For personal, non-commercial use.
STEP 2: Login Method
We currently offer three ways you can sign in. Currently, the method chosen during sign up can’t be changed later on.
- GOOGLE: Use your Google-hosted account to sign in
- MICROSOFT: Use your Microsoft-hosted account to sign in
- EMAIL: Use any email address and create a username and password to sign in with.
STEP 3: Account Details
Based on your role and login method, you’ll need to provide some information.
Date of Birth (required)
School or University (optional)
This is an optional field that won’t impact your Kahoot! experience. In some cases, this information might help our Support team find your account if you need help.
Company or Organization (required)
Workplace details (required)
This gives us some context about the environment you plan to use Kahoot! In, allowing us to better tailor your experience to your needs.
This will be your public Kahoot! alias. It cannot be changed after your account is created. Others can search by your username to find all your public content. Make sure you pick something easy to remember and understandable! Your username must be 6-20 letters, and can include numbers and/or underscores.
If you forget your password at some point, you can submit your email at https://create.kahoot.it/l/#forgotpassword to generate a link (sent to you from email@example.com) which will allow you to create a new password.
Your password (along with username or email) will be what you sign in with if the EMAIL login method was chosen in step 2. Passwords must be between 6 and 20 characters long. Make sure it’s a strong one, and remember - passwords should never be shared with anyone, including the Kahoot! team.
STEP 4: Custom Setup
Once you’ve clicked "Join Kahoot!", you’ll have an account! However, depending on your role, you may have additional options presented to you before you can get started.
WORK: You’ll be presented with options to upgrade to a subscription.
SOCIALLY: If you are at least 16 years old (13 in the U.S.), you’ll be presented with options to upgrade to a subscription.
